AMAZING AA DEAL: 5k Miles from the US – New Zealand

If you are really interested in exploring New Zealand, American Airlines is offering award space on its service from Los Angeles to New Zealand at an amazing discount….5,000 miles one-way.

Honestly, I’ve never seen award prices this low. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to buy a domestic ticket in North America for 5,000 miles. So the opportunity to fly all the way to New Zealand is a steal. However, there is one caveat, it’s in economy.

This flight is one of the longest routes in the commercial aviation industry at more than 6,500 miles each way and nearly 13.5 hours.

I was able to find a few dates in November and December but the best dates are available in January, February, and March (nearly everyday is available). Keep in mind this is High Season / Summer in New Zealand.

The dates are selling out fast so I would book soon!

It is possible to find round-trip itinerary for 10,000 miles (+$67.35 in fees) but I would use the calendar feature to explore November through February to find something.

Even if you are unable to find cheap tickets both directions, book this deal one-way and use miles from a different program to get home.

FINAL STAMP

I booked a one-way ticket to NZ! I’m excited but also anxious. It’s been a long time since I’ve spent that much time in coach. I have miles available to spend for a more comfortable flight but I also love a deal.

This is another fine example of why it’s important to diversify your points and miles. It’s important to have a game plan for how and where you are going to spend your miles but understand that deals happen all the time.

New Zealand has always been on my bucketlist. It wasn’t high on my list so I had no plans to visit anytime soon but plans change especially when it only costs 5k miles.

I’ll let you know how my back feels after the long journey.

Did anyone else take advantage of this deal?
