Black Friday Sale: Virgin Atlantic Business Class £999 Roundtrip, 50% Off Award Tickets

It appears Black Friday has come early for Virgin Atlantic fans as the carrier just announced some truly amazing opportunities with both cash fares and points redemptions…

THE DEALS

This morning, across various social media platforms, Virgin Atlantic announced they weren’t “throwing away the rule book” but instead “just taking it on holiday.”

And the offer come in three forms:

  • Reduced Tickets Fares (including £999 Roundtrip Business Class fares)
  • 50% Off Award Ticket Prices
  • 50% Bonus With Points Purchases

First, here is the DIRECT LINK to the sale, but let’s discuss each opportunity:

REDUCED FARES

Virgin Atlantic is offering reduced pricing on essentially everywhere it flies with economy flights from £239 (~$320USD), premium economy starting at £449 (~$600USD), and Upper Class (what Virgin Atlantic calls their Business class) for £999 (~$1334USD) round-trip to just about every single Virgin destination.

If you’re interested in the best “social distancing,” the business class fares are pretty much unheard of and there is the potential to get this…

However, make sure you’re looking at the Virgin Atlantic routes that offer the new Upper Class suites (e.g. New York (JFK), Los Angeles, and Tel Aviv).

There is one possible hiccup. Virgin Atlantic is based in the UK, so all the deals depart from there. Here are some round-trip pricing examples…

50% OFF AWARD TICKETS

If you have points, Virgin Atlantic is also offering a unique opportunity to “cash in” as the carrier is reducing award redemption prices by 50%. And yes, it’s literally, 50% off.

Here’s an example to New York (JFK)…

CabinNormal priceSave 50% price
Economy Classic25,00012,500
Premium45,00022,500
Upper Class95,00047,500

The terms are as follows:

  • Valid for bookings made between 23 November – 30 November 2020
  • Valid for travel between 23 November 2020 – 20 October 2021
  • Valid exclusively for travel on Virgin Atlantic (not partner airlines)
  • This applies for all cabins and for both peak and off-peak season

However, as we all know, the UK charges some of the most outrageous fees in the world so it may be worth considering the cash fare before booking an award redemption…

Interestingly, it shows 47,400 (not 47,500)

But for 23,000 points and ~$600 on the A350 in Upper Class, that’s a pretty phenomenal deal particularly because Virgin is a transfer partner of Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou.

50% BONUS ON POINTS PURCHASE

Typically, a Virgin Atlantic member can purchase a total of 100,000 points each calendar year. And right now, the carrier is offering a 50% bonus when you buy a minimum of 5,000 points.

It’s worth noting that the airline adds a £15 (~$20USD) transaction fee to all points purchases, so the more points you buy, the more “bang for your buck” you’ll receive when calculating the cost per point.

FINAL STAMP

Virgin Atlantic is offering some amazing opportunities for travel from the UK to select destinations in the United States, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East through 31 August 2021.

With fares ranging from £239 for the budget conscious travelers to £999 for Upper Class, this is definitely an offer worth taking a look at.

And if you’re worried about having to make changes, Virgin is allowing free name changes, waived fees, covering fare differences, and other perks. Don’t believe me? READ THEIR POLICY.

All things considered, it’s hard to go wrong with this offer!

Do you plan to take advantage of this sale? If so, what’s your destination?

p.s. I would recommend thinking outside the box on this offer. For example, “nest” these flights as part of a bigger trip.
