Recently, I wrote about my credit card strategy and the next set of credit cards that I am most interested in applying for.
Well, I have good news as I applied and have been approved for the IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card. As you know, the card has been on radar for a while so I am finally happy to add it to my wallet.

INSTANT APPROVAL
Interestingly, I was instantly approved fort the IHG Premier Card which is unusual. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I was instantly approved for a Chase-issued card. I immediately logged in to see if the card had been added to my Chase profile and it was so I immediately dropped a bill on it. There’s no need to wait, I have a welcome bonus to obtain!😉

WHY EVERYONE SHOULD GET THE IHG PREMIER CARD
The card offers an increased welcome bonus of 140,000 points and a few additional benefits that may be worth considering if you’re interested in the IHG Premier Card:
- Anniversary Free Night: You receive a free night certificate every year you keep the card that can be redeemed at any IHG property up to 40,000 points.
- Platinum Status: You get IHG Rewards Club Platinum status for as long as you have the card, which offers bonus points for your stays and room upgrades (if available).
- Fourth Night Free: When booking award stays, you get a 4th night free (saving up to 25%).
- TSA Pre-Check / Global Entry: You can receive a fee credit once every four years for enrolling in TSA Pre-check or Global Entry.

Are You Eligible For The IHG Premier Card?
The welcome bonus on this card isn’t available to those who currently have this specific card, or those who have received a new cardmember bonus on this card in the past 24 months. This shouldn’t be a qualification point for anyone as the card has not been out for 24 months yet.
Additionally, you are eligible for this card even if you have another version of the IHG credit card. For example, I now have both.

FINAL STAMP
The IHG Premier Card is an absolute no brainer! In my opinion, the 140,000 point welcome bonus more than justifies the $89 annual fee on the card. In other words, every year that you keep the card, you are “exchanging” $89 for a free night in some of IHG’s premier properties.
Anyone interested in the Intercontinental Bali? How about the Intercontinental in Fiji? Name your destination and compare the paid rates against $89 to calculate your savings.
In addition to the free night, the welcome bonus can cover multiple nights at many hotels around the world.
Personally, this card isn’t a card I will be putting much of my everyday spending on, but you can easily extract more than $89 worth of value from this card given all of the benefits.
If you don’t have this card, I’d definitely recommend jumping on it.
So who is applying for the IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card?
I have this card thanks to you! Unfortunately I got it back and March and I was charged the annual fee 😦 but I’m loving the new promo right now. Extra 10k points for staying at a hotel by end of year. Trying to figure out how to get a night in by end of the year being that I haven’t traveled. I also read your Marriott post and it sounded so tempting. I’m glad you broke it down and said 250k points is a better deal than 5 free nights.

The card more than pays for itself. And I wouldn’t worry abt when you got the card…welcome bonuses come and go. A few yrs ago, 100k points was unheard of. Now we’re approaching ~150k. Rock it while you have it!
Also so glad to see you’re taking in all this information. Can’t wait to see you biz class and upgraded hotel suites. 🥳
