IHG Rewards Club (the loyalty program of IHG) has just revealed the details of their next global promotion and I’d say that it’s a fairly lucrative promotion.
UNLIMITED 2X POINTS AND 10K BONUS POINTS
This promotion is valid for stays between 1 October and 15 December 2020. REGISTRATION is required but there is no end date to register.
Simply enter your Email address (or IHG Rewards Club Number) on the registration page and you’re ready to go.
The earning structure is as follows:
- Unlimited 2x on all stays and;
- IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card members can earn an additional 10,000 bonus points after their first stay when paying with the card (Note: Award stays are not eligible).
THINGS TO CONSIDER
All nights booked directly with IHG qualify for this promotion, however the nightly rate has to be at least $30.
POINTS EARNING BREAKDOWN
There are four status levels at IHG: Club, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, and Spire Elite.
All four levels earn 10x points per dollar spent. The only exclusions are 5x points per dollar at Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites.
However, IHG Rewards Club elite members receive an added bonus (10% bonus for Gold members, 50% bonus for Platinum members, and 100% bonus for Spire members).
If you pay with the IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card (which just returned with an INCREDIBLE 140,000 point welcome bonus AND no annual fee for the first year) you would earn an additional 10x IHG bonus points per dollar spent.
Let’s say that you have the IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card, you would earn:
- 10X points from IHG for being an IHG Rewards Club Member
- 5X points from IHG with Platinum status (which is a benefit of having the card)
- 10X points for paying with your IHG Premier Card
- 2x (unlimited) points during this promotion
- 10,000 Bonus points for your first stay
In other words, IHG Rewards Club Platinum members could be earning up to 35x IHG points per dollar spent, which is impressive!

I recognize that’s A LOT of math and you probably skipped over that section. But here is what you need to know…the new IHG promotion is lucrative and you’ll be receiving a solid return starting with your first stay.
If you have upcoming stays or IHG is your go-to hotel loyalty brand, rock it!
As I always say…even if you don’t have any planned nights at IHG, register for the promotion anyway. You will undoubtedly forget about this promotion and possibly book an IHG stay before the promotion ends. Don’t leave free points on the table!
