When it comes to travel, there is only one thing that I love more than flying…and that’s applying a discount and flying for even less miles.
One of the best uses for Air France/KLM Flying Blue Miles is booking flights during their monthly Promo Awards. During these sales you will find specific award flights that have been discounted (between 20-50% off) for travel on Air France and KLM.
And with the start of a new month, Air France/KLM have just published their latest Promo Awards (well, sort of).
PROMO AWARDS DISAPPEAR
The Flying Blue Loyalty program temporarily (but understandably) stopped publishing their monthly promo awards. The last time we saw a list of discounted awards was in March 2020.
The good news is they have returned to publishing these award promos.
The bad news is the current award discounts are limited to France/Europe, Asia/Pacific, and Caribbean/Indian Ocean. In other words, there are no promotion rates to/from North America.
If you’re located in the former regions, there are discounts to be had this month.

CONSIDERATIONS
There are a few “challenges” you may want to consider before exploring these Flying Blue Promo Awards.
First, and per the terms and conditions, Promo awards cannot be changed, cancelled, or refunded.
Second…surcharges! Depending on the cities and flights, your surcharges will can vary each way. Generally, the dollar amount for these award flights are a bit higher than US carriers but in my experience, you’ll enjoy a slightly more refined experience so a few extra dollars may be worth it.
Third, Flying Blue has some unique nuances. For example, it’s possible you’ll see a cheaper rate for a connecting itinerary. For instance, a ticket from a North American gateway city to Prague (via Paris) is cheaper than a ticket just between the North American gateway city and Paris.

WHERE CAN I GET FLYING BLUE MILES?
Keep in mind that you can transfer points to Air France/KLM Flying Blue from Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou. With so many partners, it should be fairly quick and easy to accumulate a lot of Flying Blue points.
FINAL STAMP
Unfortunately, this list will not be useful to the majority of subscribers. However, if you happen to be located in the France/Europe, Asia/Pacific, or Caribbean/Indian Ocean regions, you may want to take a glance.
Redeeming 33,750 miles (or less) for a Business class ticket to/from the Caribbean;
- Fort-de-France, Martinique (FDF)
- Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe (PTP)
- Cayenne, French Guiana (CAY)
…is worth consideration if you’re planning to travel and have access to enter your destination.
Personally, I do not find the list surprising given we’re in the middle of global pandemic, and though not particularly useful, I’m glad to see the promo awards have returned.
It’s worth noting the promo awards cover many routes throughout the world so check out the promotion page and toggle through the various tabs.
Anyone plan on taking advantage of one of these new Promo Awards?
