Attention all Delta credit card fans – those that actually spend on their Delta credit cards and those that keep them stored away in the sock drawer but still enjoy earning SkyMiles – American Express has introduced new spending bonuses on their co-branded cards.

THE NEW SPENDING BONUSES

Individual spending on credit cards is down significantly and many banks are introducing different ways to keep their travel cards relevant and hopefully at the top of your wallet while we continue to sort through this pandemic.

One creative strategy that banks are relying on to encourage continued spending is increasing how many miles/points you receive in a bonus category. In this instance, the new bonuses can be found on the following cards:

Let’s dive into the details….

Delta SkyMiles Gold Card (Personal & Business)

Between today and 31 December 2020, if you hold the Delta SkyMiles Gold Card (Personal) or the Delta SkyMiles Gold Card (Business), you will earn the following increased bonuses:

  • 4 miles/dollar at restaurants (2 miles/dollar more than the normal rate) and;
  • 5 miles/dollar on all Delta purchases (3 miles/dollar more than the normal rate)

Yes, it is the same bonus as the Platinum cards from above. Again, in order to obtain the increased bonuses on spend, you have to REGISTER AT THIS SITE.

FINAL STAMP

It’s great to see American Express extend this to the line-up of Delta co-branded cards. If you are in possession of the Delta SkyMiles Blue card, unfortunately, no bonuses will be extended in your direction. That shouldn’t be too surprising as the blue card doesn’t have an annual fee.

At the moment, I have a lot of great cards in my wallet which offer great return on my spending (both everyday purchases and business purchases) so I hardly touch my Delta SkyMiles card. Although, I think it’s great to see the increased bonuses, I don’t think I will be removing my card from the sock drawer. However, if you’re a Delta loyalist I can understand why this offer may be appealing.

Do you plan to take advantage of these increased bonuses on credit card spend?
