This post is a continuation of “Part 1” that I posted yesterday. If you’re not familiar with background, read THIS POST first.

But here is the short version…I have a 7-day, free hotel stay for any Marriott anywhere in the world (Category 5 or below), I want to surprise my wife but I need your help in determining where we are going to visit.

Note: The certificate can only be redeemed at one hotel.

Given these requirements, where would you go? Where would you stay?

TOP 12 HOTELS

Yesterday, I listed 6 hotels that seemed interesting and today, I am listing the remaining 6 hotels. I am also only highlighting 2 pictures for each property so it’s not overwhelming. In no particular order, let’s dive in…

Africa

Hotel: The Westin Cape Town
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Thoughts: It’s Africa and has an amazing view of Table Mountain.

Hotel: The Ritz-Carlton Rabat Dar Es Salam (Opening June 2020)
Location: Rabat, Morocco
Thoughts: Again, it’s Africa and this luxurious hotel is located in the exciting capital of Rabat. It’s worth noting that Morocco ranked first among the African countries with the most international tourist arrivals last year. Unfortunately, because it has not opened yet, the website only has stock photos but it’s a brand new Ritz so I trust it will be nice.

Note: C’mon…seriously, Marriott marketing department?? Not one black person at The Ritz in Morocco?? 🙄

Hotel: The St. Regis Cairo
Location: Cairo, Egypt
Thoughts: Wow! That looks luxurious and Egypt has been on my bucket list for years. Traveling to Egypt will also give me the opportunity to highlight what the media doesn’t show you (e.g Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada are two of many cities in Egypt where Europeans flock as their vacation playground).

Asia

Hotel: The Warehouse Hotel, Singapore, a Member of Design Hotels
Location: Singapore, Singapore
Thoughts: I love Singapore and I love the ‘converted warehouse with bamboo floors’ vibe of this hotel.

Hotel: Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa
Location: Bali, Indonesia
Thoughts: THAT POOL! THAT VIEW! THAT BATHROOM! IT’S BALI!

Hotel: The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa
Location: Bali, Indonesia
Thoughts: It’s a beachfront resort in Bali so we can definitely unplug and relax here for a week.

FINAL STAMP

So there’s all 12 hotels. Anything stick out to you?

You may have noticed that there were no South America, Central America, Mexico, or Caribbean resorts listed. That’s not to say there aren’t any amazing properties in these locations but I didn’t want to overwhelm you with choices and had to draw the line somewhere.

For example, Sweden has some amazing hotels and the country was high on my list of places to visit, however, with a simple Google search you’ll find that they’re currently experiencing some EXTREEEEEME challenges with the pandemic at the moment so they were omitted from the list fast.

If you’re interested in seeing which Marriott hotels are available in any country, you can use this INTERACTIVE MARRIOTT HOTEL MAP. It’s user-friendly and allows you to filter your results by Country, Hotel Category, Brand, or even properties that offer free breakfast.

Again, this is a list that seemed interesting. If you have any experience at any of these hotels, I welcome your review. If you have another Marriott hotel (domestic or abroad) that you recommend, I can be swayed.

What hotel would you choose from above? If none, which country would you pick to visit? Is there a hotel that interests you in that country?

  1. All these hotels look amazing! You can’t go wrong with any of them but I know that you enjoy the outdoors, at least by some of your IG posts, so I’m going to vote for Switzerland. #2 would be Morocco even with the stock photos. You wrote about AA labeling it as “Europe” so I would redeem miles that way. #3 is South Africa. I’m surprised Doha didn’t make the list. You could combine Qsuites and one of your favorite cities. Every time I see something about Doha, you come to mind. I think you were the first person I ever heard talk about Qatar.

  2. Wow!!! Now this is tough. I initially went with Switzerland as number one choice. Those hotels make it much harder to choose. I like the idea of Bali and Egypt as well as Switzerland. I’m excited to see what you decide on. I’m jealous nonetheless.

  3. So hard to choose from this list but i like heat more than cold and a good beach or water view get me. So south Africa, Egypt and Morocco would be my choices. And bali too .

  4. @Dori Whoa! I didn’t even consider that option. If Qatar flies to my destination, I could combine Qsuites from the US to Doha and (potentially) another Qsuites segment to have the ultimate redemption.
