At the end of January Chase and IHG launched a great offer on the IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card. This is a fantastic hotel credit card that I recommend for everyone. Let’s take a brief look at the card.
140,000 WELCOME BONUS
The IHG Premier Card has an incredible new welcome bonus of 140,000 IHG Rewards Club points after spending $3,000 within the first three months. That spend requirement is pretty standard, however, the bonus is phenomenal.
Often, banks will run a promotion where they have an increased bonus on a particular card BUT generally those cards will also have an increased spend requirement.
And just to give some perspective, the standard welcome bonus has been 80,000 points for a long time. Last year, there was a short time period when the offer had been increased to 125,000 points and everyone was raving about it and now it’s 140,000. That’s a massive increase!
WHY EVERYONE SHOULD GET THE IHG PREMIER CARD
If you’re not impressed with 140,000, here are a few additional benefits that you may be worth considering with the IHG Premier Card:
- Anniversary Free Night: You receive a free night certificate every year you keep the card that can be redeemed at any IHG property up to 40,000 points.
- Platinum Status: You get IHG Rewards Club Platinum status for as long as you have the card, which offers bonus points for your stays and room upgrades (if available).
- Fourth Night Free: When booking award stays, you get a 4th night free (saving up to 25%).
- TSA Pre-Check / Global Entry: You can receive a fee credit once every four years for enrolling in TSA Pre-check or Global Entry.
Are You Eligible For The IHG Premier Card?
The welcome bonus on this card isn’t available to those who currently have this specific card, or those who have received a new cardmember bonus on this card in the past 24 months.
However, you are eligible for this card if you have any other version of the IHG credit card.
FINAL STAMP
The IHG Premier Card is an absolute no brainer! In my opinion, the 140,000 point welcome bonus more than justifies the $89 annual fee on the card. In other words, every year that you keep the card, you are “exchanging” $89 for a free night in some of IHG’s premier properties.
Anyone interested in the Intercontinental Bali? How about the Intercontinental in Fiji? Name your destination and compare the paid rates against $89 to calculate your savings.
In addition to the free night, 140,000 points can cover multiple nights at many hotels around the world.
Personally, this card isn’t a card I would be put much spending on, but you can easily extract more than $89 worth of value from this card given all of the benefits.
If you don’t have this card, I’d definitely recommend jumping on it.

I got this card thanks to your posting a couple of months ago! My first trip when this is over is to use all my points (hotel/Flight) on a points paid trip! Hopefully Switzerland will be my next destination.
