Every credit card comes with it’s list of “perks.” Some are more eye-catching than others but nonetheless a perk. One of my favorite perks of American Express credit cards are ‘Amex offers.’
If you’re not familiar with Amex Offers, it’s a program where your American Express credit cards are targeted for various savings and bonus offers. In many cases, these offers can save you big money.
HOW DO I SEE MY ‘AMEX OFFERS?’
To view your Amex Offers, login to your Amex account and scroll to the bottom of your account summary page where you’ll see a list of eligible offers for that specific card. It should look like this…
The offers vary from person to person and can come in different forms. For example, one individual may be offered points for spending a certain amount of money, while another individual may be offered a credit for spending the same amount of money.
Currently, there’s a new targeted Amex Offer for $40 back when you spend $200+ at a Marriott Bonvoy property in the US (or US territories). The offer is valid for stays through June 3, 2019.
I would recommend that you read through the offer terms so you’re aware of how to utilize this offer. Initially, I was very excited because I’ll be traveling internationally in the next few days and would be able to use this discount. However the terms state “Offer valid only at participating Marriott Bonvoy™ properties in the U.S. and U.S. territories.” I will still use the offer, it just won’t be for the upcoming trip.
PRO TIP: You just have to spend $200+ cumulatively, so you could spend that across multiple stays.
It’s possible that your version of this Amex offer reads “4,000 bonus Membership Rewards Points” rather than $40, though my offer is the one that you see above.

I’m a numbers guy ! I “run the numbers” before every transaction and this is a great opportunity to save 20% off your hotel room.
If you’re a numbers person, you’ll also recognize that utilizing one (and hopefully more) of these Amex Offers can more than offset the annual fee for a card.
PRO TIP #2: The offer is available on most of my Amex credit cards but I did not find it on either of my Marriott Bonvoy credit cards. However, you can split payment at check-out. Personally, I’d put $200 on the credit card that has the offer on it and then put the remaining balance on a card that offers bonus points for hotel spend (e.g. Marriott Bonvoy card).
