3 Hotels On My Radar For Next Year

Ok, perhaps, suggesting “next year” is when things will return to normal and I will return to the skies is wishful thinking (especially considering that “next year” technically begins in 20 days), but it can’t hurt to dream, right?

SCHEDULE TRAVEL AROUND HOTELS?

Normally, I’m not one to schedule trips around hotels. In fact, prior to the pandemic, I did not give much thought to hotels.

Generally, my thought process looks like this…

  1. “I want to review (insert airline). They have award availability between (insert city A) and (insert city B). And it’s on the (insert new fancy plane). Book it!
  2. “Welp, it looks like I’m going to (insert city B). Where should I lay my head?”

In other words, hotels (and/or the destination) are a second thought when it comes to my travel plans…that is until I stayed in a few hotels that were far beyond my budget and redeemed points. Now hotels have become just as important as the flight itself.

HYATT HOTELS

Over the past week, I haven’t published an article (sorry!), but you may recall that I’m in pursuit of hotels experiences that inspire me.

Well, I’ve come across some hotels that are truly amazing and are (ever so slightly) dictating my destination as soon as things return to normal(ish). Let’s just jump right in….

Alila Hinu Bay (Oman)

This property is an Alila property and can be found under the Hyatt brand. This hotel isn’t open yet (scheduled to open 1 May 2021) but if the hotel looks like any of the following computer-generated photos for the site, I’ll be in the flight flight.

But here is where it gets crazy…it’s a category 5 hotel (20,000 Hyatt points / night), there are only 3 room types – Terrace, Pool Villa, and Pool Villa Deluxe and cost well over $1000/night. That means a suite upgrade would would be into a pool villa! I’m in!

…and it doesn’t hurt that it’s in one of my favorite countries.

Alila Jabal Akhdar (OMAN)

Am I sensing a theme here?

Again, this property is an Alila property and can be found under the Hyatt brand. This hotel has been on my bucket list for some time. I really wanted to stay here when I went to Oman last year but I had limited time and this hotel is in the middle of nowhere. So I “settled” for this 5-star property. 😉

…and yes, that is the hotel blending into the side of the cliff.

Park Hyatt Auckland

I don’t think I’ll be reviewing the Park Hyatt Auckland anytime soon given the borders are closed and the country is arguably the last country that will “reopen” but the Park Hyatt looks like an amazing boutique hotel, perfectly positioned on Auckland’s waterfront, and is also a category 5 hotel.

Honorable Mention: St. Regis Mauritius

St. Regis Mauritius (and it’s butler service) speaks for itself and I have been planning a trip to Africa for some time.

FINAL STAMP

I can’t wait to travel again!

Have you ever stayed in an amazing hotel? If so, where were you and what made the experience phenomenal?
