We’ve seen some pretty intriguing offers on various credit cards over the last few months as cards battle to stay relevant (and in your wallet).
Hyatt is jumping into the action too, but not with the card that you would expect…
HYATT LEGACY CARD OFFER
Many are aware that Chase now offers The World Of Hyatt Credit Card, but if you’re new to the hobby, you may not be aware that Hyatt used to offer the Hyatt Credit Card (no longer open to applications).
Well, Hyatt is targeting holders of its legacy credit card with an intriguing spending offer; spend $4,000 on the card by the end of the year and receive a category 1-4 free night certificate.
As you can see from the photo above, registration is required, so if you have the card CLICK HERE.
IS THIS A GOOD DEAL?
Let’s start with the basics…
First, if you were to redeem the certificate at a category 4 property, it would be “worth” 15,000 points per night for a standard room.
It’s also worth noting that Hyatt has delayed introduction of the ‘peak and off-peak’ award chart until July 2022 but once that happens, it will create some variability in terms of award pricing. That change would not affect whether the property was a category 4 or not but it would simply mean it may be “worth” anywhere from 12,000 – 18,000 points.
Second, as a card holder, you would also be earning at least 1x per dollar, so you’ll earn at least 4,000 points from the spend as well.
Additionally, if you were targeted for the spending bonuses for the Chase co-branded cards, you would be able to stack even more points on this offer.
For example, you may remember that I received an offer to earn 5x on Amazon.com purchases and 3x on grocery store purchases (up to $1500 in combined purchases) on my legacy Hyatt credit card and now I’m also targeted for the $4000 spend offer.
Both offers have to be completed before the end of the year but doing some simple math, I could earn up to 10,000 points and a free category 4 certificate in less than 60 days.
Clearly, that is quite a bit of spending in 60 days, but if you are planning to buy something on amazon or spend money at the grocery store, and you value Hyatt points, it could be worth it.
Hyatt is targeting holders of its legacy credit card with an intriguing offer to spend $4,000 on the card by the end of the year and receive a category 1-4 free night certificate.
It’s surprising that legacy card holders are being targeted instead of The World Of Hyatt Credit Card as I would expect Hyatt and/or Chase would want to encourage legacy card holders to upgrade the new World Of Hyatt Credit Card instead of encouraging further spending on the old card.
It’s also worth noting that at the moment, World of Hyatt is offering a 30% bonus when you purchase at least 5,000 points in one transaction through 24 November 2020. So if you need to string together a few nights and/or top off your points, you can save some money there too.
As always, even if you don’t think you’ll maximize this offer, register for it anyway. Extra points are extra points (and thus free hotel nights) but be sure to REGISTER by 30 November.
